Special Educational Needs

Every child matters in Iceni Academy, and the Disabilities & Special Educational Needs Faculty (DSEN) is here to provide an opportunity for all pupils to access the curriculum. It provides learning support to encourage, inspire and motivate, as well as providing emotional and pastoral support to ensure the pupils' welfare. The faculty caters for individual needs on a one-to-one basis as well as group support in lessons. We also offer programmes to support literacy.

An enthusiastic team, led by our dedicated SENDCO at Hockwold (Mrs Owner) and SEN Manager (Mrs Walker) at Methwold, collaborates with teachers to encourage independent learning. The faculty can also provide a quiet environment at lunchtimes supervised by Learning Support Assistants, where pupils can access the computers and approach staff with any concerns they may have.

Our current SEND Policy is available here.
