Key Stage 4

At Key Stage 4, we use the Edexcel exam board, with pupils following one of two pathways:

Pathway 1

Pupils are selected to do the Triple Science route. The pupils will do three exams in each science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), along with a controlled practical assessment for each subject. All exams will be taken at the end of Year 11. The pupil will receive a separate grade for each science.

Pathway 2

The remaining pupils will do two separate GCSEs. They will do the Core GCSE in Year 10 and the Additional GCSE in Year 11. In each course, they will study each of the three sciences, taking a written exam in each science at the end of each year. Each pupil will have to complete a practical controlled assessment.

There is much more information available, including past papers and specifications on the Edexcel website,

Your child can also access revision materials via the SAM Learning website.
